The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of the Rajasthan police arrested on Sunday four people of a gang that allegedly took money from candidates for leaking the question paper of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), conducted for admission to medical, dental, AYUSH and veterinary colleges.

Senior ATS officials said the arrested men were under the scanner for the last 15 days. However, the question paper they were purportedly selling didn’t match with the one that came in the exam on Sunday.

Latest: NEET Answer Key 2017

NEET, earlier known as AIPMT, is a national level medical entrance examination conducted by CBSE. The history of NEET 2017 is riddled with controversies. In 2015, the exam was leaked and had to be conducted again on Supreme Court’s order. In 2016, the exam was held in 2 phases (NEET 1 and NEET 2). CBSE faced a lot of criticism as no ‘normalization’ process was followed in NEET results. Also, many students and experts were of the opining that there were discrepancies in the Answer Key.

If confirmed, the reports of NEET paper leak in Bihar can be a blow to CBSE as it was already under a lot of pressure to conduct the exam in a smooth and hassle-free way. According to unconfirmed reports, Patna Police is conducting raids in various parts of the city. Whether or not the police will make more arrests is yet to be seen. As of now, no official from CBSE is willing to speak on the matter.

The allegations of NEET 2017 question paper leak will be verified only if there is an official confirmation by CBSE. Stay tuned for latest updates.
